Top 5 Lash Aftercare Tips

Alright Ladies and Gents! I have been in the lash game for about 9 months now and I am loving it! I appreciate all my new clients that are trusting me to give them gorgeous lashes. I wanted to share my Top 5 tips to keeping eyelash extensions healthy and beautiful.

Tip #1 - Clean them! That’s right, just like washing your hair, your lashline can get oily, grimey, and even bring on hygiene related infections that may mean I’ll need to remove your lashes! Plus all of that sweat, oil, and makeup build starts to break down the adhesive! But all that is totally avoidable with cleansing your lashline regularly! I recommend using a lash safe cleanser daily to ensure a happy lash line and keep those lashes hanging around for a long time!

Tip #2 - Brush them! Brushing your eyelash extensions is not only a must-do for keeping your lashes looking flawless at all times, it also stimulates blood flow to your hair follicles bringing fresh nutrients and oxygen to your natural lashes. I recommend brushing the tops of your lashes first to line them up, then brush them up from underneath to give them lift!

Tip #3 - Avoid Waterproof Makeup- The beauty of lashes is just how much less makeup you need! And how much better the rest of the makeup you may or may not use looks when it’s on! Just make sure that any product that goes on the extensions is oil-free and NOT waterproof. That way you can clean your lashes every night and not worry about your makeup affecting your retention!

Tip #4 - Look, don't touch! Tugging, pulling or rubbing your eyelash extensions too aggressively can cause them to pull on your natural lashes. Natural lash health is a top priority of mine, so I’ll do my part to ensure your natural lashes are healthy and you do your part by not yanking them out!

Tip #5 - Maintenance! To keep your eyelash extensions looking fabulously full and fluffy, you can anticipate coming in every 2-3 weeks so we can safely remove the ones that have grown out and replace them with a freshie!

I hope these tips help!

Eyelash Extensions

Back in November I began my training for eyelash extensions. I completed my certification in January. I know most have 1-2 days workshops for certification; however my trainer did 2 days plus 3 hands on. I actually did 4 hands on sessions because she wanted to ensure that I was able to do a full set before certification.

I wanted to add lashes to my beauty business because I had a few past brides ask about wearing lashes on their honeymoon. Typically, strip lashes only last one day and it isn't recommended that you sleep in them. Adding this service allows me to offer them the option of having lashes after their wedding day.

Lashing takes a lot of patience due to the task being very tedious. I am learning that I will always be a student when it comes to eyelashes because there are so many factors that will affect the lashes. My goal is to always protect my client's natural lashes and provide neat and clean lash styles (no crazy looking lashes here).

I am excited about this new addition to my business! You can check out some of my lash work on my Instagram www.instagram.com/taneshawilliamsbeauty

Allow Me To Introduce Myself

Hello Beauties! My name is Tanesha Williams; however I go by Tanesha Latrese in the beauty world and social media. Welcome to my blog!

I started my professional makeup artistry business, Beauty by Tanesha, LLC in 2012. I have a background in Sociology, Psychology, and Criminal Justice. Yes, two totally different spectrums of careers! When I tell people my background I'm always asked, how did you end up in makeup with that type of background? Truth be told the two aren't that different. They both deal with people and I love helping people. Having a career in the behavioral sciences, allows me to help people navigate with changing their behavior. Having a business in makeup allows me to help women enhance their features and build the confidence they need to face this world, by giving them beauty tips for every day, or making them feel like royalty on their wedding day.

I am currently based in Anne Arundel County, MD near Arundel Mills and I service the surrounding DMV area. I am a Mother of a pre-teen, who loves cheerleading, singing, and playing the piano. She can do all the latest dances as well and keeps me entertained.

Now that I have given you a little bit about me, let me tell you about my business. I am here to service all your beauty needs. If you're looking for special occasion makeup for that engagement session, wedding, birthday, headshot, or a date night, book me as your makeup artist. I will be hosting one on one makeup lessons, having group classes, and I will be assisting with personal shopping. Be sure to subscribe (look at the top of the pages for the link) to my newsletter to get the latest news, updates on classes, and events!
